Keeper of the forest. Totoro is not a traditional Japanese character: he was completely invented by Miyazaki. However, it is natural for Totoro to be in the system of traditional Japanese representations of natural deities, guardian spirits of the area. According to Miyazaki's idea, they are covered with soft fur and are a «mixture» of several animals.
The picture is painted with acrylic.
